One of the many activities at Jamie’s Flea Market’s 50th anniversary celebration will be a donut eating contest. Kiedrowski’s, inventor of the Snoogle®, the original classic cult pastry, will supply the donuts. A long-time vendor at Jamie’s, Kiedrowski’s Simply Delicious Bakery of Amherst has won numerous awards, and was named one of the 10 best donut shops in Northeast Ohio by Cleveland.com in 2015. It will be anyone’s best guess whether contestants are in it for the prize or an unlimited supply of delicious donuts.
The contest will take place at 1 p.m. There are two age categories for all contests:
- Children under the age of 12
- Teens/adults, ages 13 and up
Still going strong after 50 years, Jamie’s will be putting on a big show in celebration of their 50th year in business. Robin Swoboda, a Cleveland television personality, will emcee the 50th anniversary event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Local singer-songwriter, Jerry Popiel will play rock and country classics from 12-2 p.m.
Other contests on the schedule:
- Hula hoop contest at 11 a.m
- Skittles contest at 12 noon
Free activities include artists performing face painting, balloon art and caricatures. There will also be a prize wheel, a treasure chest and hundreds of dollars in prizes and gift certificates to win.
