Popiel rocks and Robin Swoboda charms despite the heatwave
On June 22, 2024 Jamie’s Flea Market celebrated its 50th year in business. The blazing sun and heat couldn’t keep the crowds away from a rockin’ 50th anniversary celebration of Jamie’s Flea Market.
Robin Swoboda presented honors from the Governor and the flag that was flown over the United States Capitol in honor of Jamie’s 50th.
The Governor and Lieutenant Governor of Ohio recognized that Jamie’s Flea Market’s commitment and dedication to making a positive difference have made the community, and Ohio, a better place to live, work, and raise a family.
An aide from Joseph P. Miller’s office, Ohio Representative, presented the owners with a proclamation recognizing Jamie’s Flea Market for its dependable and enthusiastic staff who have supported many small entrepreneurs and local artisans in self-promotion, and they can be proud of their successful initiatives to create a vibrant community and draw visitors to the area.
Jerry Popiel, who used to come to Jamie’s as a child, played classic rock tunes which had the crowd dancing and swaying. The selection of tunes was ideal for the 50th anniversary theme.
Children who braved the heat enjoyed the contests and chance to win a Jamie’s gift certificate. Shoppers were lined up all day for a caricature from local artist, Wendy Fedan, and for facepainting and balloon art.
With shoppers moving throughout the area, and escaping the heat indoors, the vendors had a great day. Many vendors participated in the theme by offering a special 50th anniversary promotion.
Three generations of Jamie’s were also present. The family donated a flag pole, and benches in memory of the founders, Bill and Martha Jamie.
The four Mock sisters, owners of Jamie’s Flea Market were on hand to accept the honors, thank the shoppers and vendors for the loyalty and the staff for their dedication and to Lorna Ingersoll, granddaughter of the Jamie’s and general manager, who organized a great show.
