Jamie’s annual Gas Grill Giveaway is a traditional event to kick-off the outdoor season. This year Jamie’s put a twist on the event: shoppers who spent a minimum of $5 at an indoor booth received a drawing ticket. The lucky ticket holder was one of the 1900 tickets in the drawing on Saturday, May 24th.
General Manager, Lorna Ingersoll said, “We weren’t sure how this would work out. In the past no purchase was necessary to enter the Gas Grill Giveaway drawing.” Ingersoll said the record number of participants over the past two years in the annual Snowflake Stroll and Chinese Raffle made owners and management rethink how to make the contests and giveaways a win-win for both shoppers and vendors.
“Shoppers didn’t seem put off by the pay to play concept, and there’s plenty of choice in the $5 range at a flea market,” according to Ingersoll. “They have a chance to win and and they patronize the foundation of the flea market: hundreds of indoor vendors who are here all year long, every Wednesday and Saturday.”
With all sorts of merchandise on offer at hundreds of different booths in two buildings, shoppers have fun exploring the booths and strolling the aisles. Finding hidden treasures, big or small, vintage or collectible, is part of the weekly fun at Jamie’s, Northern Ohio’s largest traditional flea market.
